"Dots": Color, Process and Memory

Each of the 12 panels is a square foot box like object that comes off the wall over three inches, creating a dimensional dynamic painting.

The panels are covered with thin layers of acrylic paint: white, red, bright pink, yellow, green, orange, purple, blue and black. They are sanded down to reveal flecks of color and create depth and the aesthetic of erosion and weathering.

Six stencils were made, and developed into a system of process. The stencils act as a controlled but spontaneous method of working that encourages freedom and movement while maintaining structure and form. Thin layers of paint were sprayed through the stencils to create bursts of concentrated color.

"Dots" remind us of the blurry lights in the rain, or a flurry of colorful candy in mid flight. Pastel hues are an engaging reminder of blissful times as a child; candy coated sweets on holidays and summer fairs. Reds and blues are a starker vision of remembering the blur of childhood and simpler times.
