 | Dear Friends,
We are excited about our exhibitions for 2008. Everything Matters…big colourful encaustic paintings by Randall Steeves, opens in February. “Everything Matters” is about the intimacy of the relationship between the painter and the viewer, or the "receiver" as Steeves likes to say. What you look at in these paintings is the surface. This show is about what happens when you get up close to the surface.
Mirror by Elena Evanoff opens in March. Evanoff’s oil paintings reflect her persistent interest in the human figure. Her work draws from the traditional genre of portraiture and echoes images of classical statuary. Evanoff does not seek to portray an accurate likeness or recognizable figures but rather she uses the figure as a tool for her experiments with the painting process.
If you are travelling to the Kamloops area this spring, drop in to The Kamloops Art Gallery. They are presenting a solo exhibition by gallery artist Gary Pearson, one of British Columbia’s most dynamic contemporary painters. The End is My Beginning features new paintings and works from the last half decade. This is Pearson’s first solo exhibition in Kamloops. The Kamloops Art Gallery
Showing concurrently with Gary Pearson at the Kamloops Art Gallery are Vancouver-based sculptors Rhonda Weppler and Trevor Mahovsky. Both exhibitions run from March 30 to May 25, 2008.
In April we are very pleased to present Salvage an exhibition of photography and kinetic sculpture by Vancouver artists Eric Deis and Jeremy Isao Speier. Through two distinct styles and media, these artists reconnect the discrete fragments of urban living to render an extraordinary view of the city’s unwritten histories. Deis’ large-scale photographs immerse the viewer into a vivid vista of colour and detail of urban life. Speier’s fragments extracted from urban life are rebuilt and re-contextualized in his dynamic wall sculptures.
LOOK FOUR, an exhibition of new paintings by Melanie Authier, Joe Fleming, Christopher Friesen and Marcia Harris opens April 29th.
We invite you to join our mailing list (JOIN MAILING LIST) to keep up to date on events and exhibitions.
We hope you will be able to visit us and see our artists’ exciting upcoming exhibitions. As always, please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions.
Best Wishes,
